Karen has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a minor in Sociology. When a close family member was diagnosed with schizophrenia, she dedicated her life’s work to helping others with mental illnesses. She has a history of working in a variety of settings including residential programs, IRTS, and outpatient clinics as a mental health practitioner. She worked for 14 years at an IRTS where she worked with a variety of mental health disorders. She also has experience teaching Illness Management and Recovery and leading integrated dual diagnosis groups.


Karen has a passion for helping others and enjoys making a positive difference in the lives of those she serves. In her free time, she enjoys walking her dog, Cooper. Karen also enjoys Netflix movies and series along with listening to music. She loves local live musical performances. When she is not busy impacting others, she loves spending time with friends and her two grandchildren.
